Joint-Membership in Blood-Relation

Directive Under Rule 77 of The Delhi Cooperative Societies Act 1973
Subject: Enrollment of joint member in group housing/house building societies.
It has noticed that some of the groups housing/house building societies are enrolling joint members who are within the first degree blood relation of the original member. In this connection attention is drawn to Para 5 clause (ii)of directive No. F.47/very/Gh/Coop/81 dated 31.05.84 issued under Rule, 1973 by which transfer of shares is allowed only in the "first degree blood relation" has been defined as: father, mother, brother, sister son, daughter and also spouse."Since enrollment of a joint member involves proportionate transfer of shares and rights of the original member of the society in favor of the joint member, the guidelines applicable for transfer of share within first degree blood relation should also be applicable in respect of enrollment of a joint member.
Therefore, I, GITA SAGAR, Registrar, Cooperative societies hereby direct that henceforth enrolment of a joint member in thehouse building/group housing society shall be made only within the first degree blood relation as defined by his office from time to time.
This, issues for the information and guidance of all the house building/group housing societies.
